Step into the shoes of a formidable demolition expert who takes on missions to topple buildings and gain both privileges and experience points as you progress. Made for both the PC and the Mac, Demolition Company divides itself into various jobs. For the trial version you only have access to one, but that gives you the chance to decide if this game works for you.The full version puts straight-up challenge in front of you where you must face a variety of jobs, and each will have their own technical and social characteristics, which raise the challenge in the game.

As you roll through the missions, you have a toolbox of items from explosive to wrecking cars. The gameplay challenges you with realistic physics, and the debris falling from a building requires actual vehicle reaction like it does in real life. The game, unfortunately, suffers from sub-par graphics, and you can only do so much with a game where your entire purpose takes you to knocking down buildings. For those who love to break stuff, Demolition Company offers you a less destructive outlet.

In many ways, You could compare Demolition Company to games like Angry Birds. It turns a simple concept on its head and lets you have fun. Some gamers hoped the game might have a more organizational or logical challenge to dismantling complex buildings, but the game does not take that approach. After a while of playing, the game crushes you with its repetitively dull nature. Even with more than 30 missions, the game's same old, same old style starts to wear on you after a bit.

Playing through the game, Demolition Company takes you to different parts of the city, including the suburbs, old town, a factory area, a port, a financial district and an airport district. The game also starts you out in an exercise area where you learn how to drive specific vehicles through tutorials. You will plant dynamite and have a great time watching it explode. While moving through the levels, you can invest your hard-won cash into newer vehicles and unlock new assignments within the city.

In total, you only have between five to seven hours of gameplay, which is astoundingly short. You do not have to follow the guidelines too closely. In fact, most of the fun happens when you blaze your own trail. When you first start career mode, the controls ask for time to master them, but once you start to buy new machines and tools, the game can be a lot of fun. The game, however, does come with its fair share of bugs, which vex the most patient gamer. Even despite the average graphics, repetitive gameplay and numerous bugs, Demolition Company appeals to a certain type of gamer.

Pros

  • Realistic action
  • Over 30 missions
  • A multitude of vehicles and tools to choose from

Cons

  • Gameplay starts to get repetitive after a while
  • Only seven to five hours of gameplay
